First and foremost we are a website dedicated to the tragically funny Tragic Travel stories of Travel Tragics so we are always willing to hear tragic travel stories from others. We also want to hear from those who may have helpful information and insights that we might have missed.
So, if you’d like to write for this site, here are our requirements:
Content We Would Like?
What kind of submissions are we looking for? We’re interested in the following areas:
- As mentioned Tragically funny Travel stories. We would love to hear about any travel mishaps or disasters that are funny.
- Recent region related content. Although we have travelled to many countries new content is important and we would love to hear your new ideas, recommendations and suggestions.
- Have some insights into travel gear and technology. We’d love to hear your thoughts on what makes your life easier during your travel journeys.
Submissions should have a focus on budget-related issues, things to do, accommodation options, good companies or apps to use, travel hacks, or ways to save money. Along with tragically funny travel stories with a lesson or advice we want the kind of service article that will help readers travel cheaper, better, and longer.
Typical posts are 1,000-2,000 words, super detailed, contain lots of useful links, and have tips and tricks not found elsewhere. We love insider knowledge and we love sharing it with others too!

Here’s an example of a good email:
Hi Tragic Travels,
My name is Bill B and I’m writing about submitting a guest post on your site. I’ve been traveling for many years, with a focus on Mordor. For the last six months, I’ve been traveling around the Kingdoms as a wanderer and have a lot of resources that can help. My blog is middleworld.com, and I’ve written some posts on the subject that can be found here and here.
My proposed topic is “How to Visit the eye of Sauron on a Budget,” which will focus on how to get around, eat, and travel without spending a lot or money or doing an expensive tour. The idea here is to show people you can travel the country independently.
Here are links to some of my writing so you can see I can put words together.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bill
Clear and simple and if we like what you have to say, we’ll reply. While tenacity can often be appreciated, please DO NOT follow up as email can be difficult to manage at the best of times. If we like your ideas we will be in touch with you as soon as we can.
Please also follow the rules above. People with an attention to details and who can deliver upon requirements are valued, therefore we are much more likely to accept your submission under these circumstances. If you go you own way and send an email with the wrong subject line or miss any of the other following rules, we will not accept your proposal!
We will provide at least one “do follow” link for any selected article and will recognise you and/or your website as the content author.
Lastly, if you send a draft that is too much work to edit, we reserve the right to reject it. Additionally, it is likely that we will want to make changes to your draft so please expect notes and rewrites.
So having said all that, thanks for your interest in being a part of the Tragic Travels journey and perhaps we’ll see you somewhere out there.
